#8- Sedalia-Daum Museum of Contemporary Art-July 3, 2012
Today you will go with us to visit the Daum
Museum, which is housed on the State Fair Community College Campus. The Daum
opened in 2002 to collect, preserve, interpret, and exhibit modern and
contemporary works of art. Dr. David Daum, a local Dentist and philanthropist
donated his collection to the College. The Museum features works by Andy
Warhol, Dale Chihuly, Helen Frankenthaler, Robert Motherwell, Peter Voulkos,
Louise Borgeois, and Betty Woodman.
Much of Contemporary Art is up to your
individual interpretation, but a few portrayed definite subjects. In the
gallery devoted to the State Fair, note the picture of our Granddaughter,
Peyton, the horse for Susan H., and
"Sitting in the Cheap Seats" on hay bales.
The "Crowning glory" of the Daum
is the magnificent glass chandelier by Dale Chihuly-WOW! Wouldn't that fit into
your living room decor????
Thanks for coming with us. Hope y'all
enjoyed your tour of the Daum Museum,
There is a lot to see in Sedalia, so
please join us on our next Blog.
Blessings,
Mary Ann, Les, and Pollybird
