Missouri State Fairgrounds Sheep Show

Blog #10-  Sedalia-The Missouri State Fairgrounds-July 3, 2012

Our "home away from home" these two weeks, has been the Missouri State Fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds 396 acres, listed on the National Register of Historic Districts, are the home of over 2,200 campsites and modern convention and agricultural facilities. From the Varied Industries Building built in 1903, to the Missouri Department of Conservation Building built in 2005, the nationally recognized architecture of the Fairgrounds is unduplicated. The Womans Building , built in 1910 houses the State Fair Museum.
The Fairgrounds hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including livestock shows, camping rallies, sporting events and races. And of course, the State Fair held in August.
We shared the a Fairground space with the"Midwest Stud and Ram Show", which attracted farmers from all over the country. Ewes and Rams were auctioned off throughout the week, and we found it most interesting  in many ways. The "top bid" for one Ram was $40,000- he better be good!!! A Ewe went for $2200! We were concerned for the sheep in this intense heat, but they were in the barn with big fans on them-I wanted to trade places with them! We could here lots of "Baaaa
Baaaa-and we even heard one lone "MAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR" ! (For you, Mark:-)
We found the Fairground facilities to be very "user friendly" and COOL!!!!
     Enjoy the pics,
     Blessings, Maaaaaarrrrrrryyyyyy Annnnnnn  , Lesssssssss,
